School's almost over

o I better start posting. It seems that as my girls get older my time gets consumed by more of their activities than mine. What's that about? And the thought of having them home all summer made me realize that I better get some of my classes in order and scheduled BEFORE June 6th when they were with me 24/7! Check my "What's going on When" title to the left of this page for class information.  In the meantime, here is one of my latest projects. You might remember this little gem from February when it was designed using the Love You Much stamp Set. I decided this was such a fun little project we should do it again using new colors and the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set

P5260049 Now, this isn't my own creation, I cased it from Megan O'Donnell who submitted it to SU! for a creativity contest that they host each month. It's super fast to make and it makes a great little gift when you want to acknowledge someone's birthday or just say 'thank you' to someone without spending a lot of money. If you have about 15 minutes, you can whip out one of these albums. Here's the instructions.

P5260052 And if you're just blog surfing...

This is a friend of mine who is an exceptional artist, designer, scrapper, etc..You name it, she does it and she is a huge fan of Martha Stewart. Vote for her blog banner design by following her instructions below and then head over to her blog to see more of her fabulous work.

Two Cards

These are two of the cards we made for my Stamp-And-Run this week. Very simple and pretty. Bella Bleu DSP used on the sympathy card. Paper is so prettier in person than the catalog shows

What do you do when you're waiting for the little regional prop jet to take you home? Make silly faces at eachother! Where's the alcohol? I'm going to need it for this flight home...Boredum

Snow at the top

We drove all the way to the top of the mountain (elev. 10,000 ft) and there was lots of snow. Of course my daughter had to dive right into the middle of it!

P.S. I'm trying this blogging thing from my iPhone. Let's see how it works...

Snow at the top

Snow at the top

What day is this?

I'm not sure where it all began but, I had one sick person in my house and then another and then another and then me! All before we were supposed to get on a plane for Colorado. I had to cancel my stamp clubs and classes right before our trip. After 2 weeks of this nonsense, we're all well and enjoying our holiday on the ski slopes of Powderhorn Colorado

There is a black bear running around on the western runs of the slope so those runs are closed down. My husband and friends keep going over there in hopes of seeing the bear but, no such luck. Other people have seen him from the  ski lift in the morning. We'll just keep our eyes peeled and see if he shows up.  In the meantime, we're having a great time. The snow is melting really fast and it's really hot up here. I didn't pack any short sleeves for anyone so we're all feeling nice and sweaty.  Looks beautiful in my photos, wilted. I'd post photos for you but, I forgot all my camera connections for my laptop since I was trying to pack with a 101.4 f fever and foggy head.

Have you joined the Twitter rage yet? I joined last summer but, forgot about it until just recently. I've been updating regularly and its kinda fun. I can only type in about 140 characters so it keeps my posts nice and short. This is ideal from my short attention span.  Try it and tell me where you are so I can follow you too!

Did I drop her on her head? I don't remember...

B213-57_KOLooking at my last post (gasp!...) I realized that I left you with a teaser of sorts. You see, as much as stamping & scrapbooking is part of my life, my children manage to wedge themselves into my most hectic moments with such ridiculousness that I actually have to stop and contemplate whether I damaged them at some early part of their lives or were they just born like this.  Case in point... a while ago, my youngest daughter needed a new bedroom suite. So off I went, looking all over town for just the right little girl bedroom set. We settled on this. Nice. Not to babyish, not too grown up. Fits in her room...Great. We'll take it.  We have it delivered and pick out just the right linens for her. She prefers pink and we found a great set at JC Penney's. Paint the room, hang the matching curtains, fluff the pillows and wait for her to move in. It all seems so plain and simple right?  Then WHY does she insist in making me crazy by declaring that this is her new bed (planted in my room next to my bed) and she's going to sleep in it every night?P6120045 Wait is that a laundry basket? Yes! YES! it is a laundry basket! And why would she want to sleep in it? How would I know?! This is when I think I obviously must've dropped her on her head when she was a baby. I just have no recollection of it. And mind you, my baby is not so little. She is 10 years old and about 4 ft. tall. You can't see it in the photo but, her legs are hanging over the edge, bent at the knees. So, of course, I did what any responsible and loving mother would do if her child went to sleep in a laundry basket on the floor next to her parents bed.

I turned off the light and left her there.

Jan2009 On to things I do remember doing...These are my last two cards from my Stamp And Run. Used Organic Outlines, gold brads, Kiwi Kiss stripped ribbon, Really Rust, Kiwi Kiss Classic Ink and Very Vanilla and Kiwi Kiss cardstock. The word stamp is from a very old set called, Hope for Comfort. I really like this set so I've held on to it for years.

My next card is using one of my all time favorites called Paint Prints. Those of you who have been with SU! for a long time remember that this was a SAB set one year. I've always liked this set and wish SU! would bring back something like it.Jan2009-1

Used Rose Red, So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Close to Cocoa Classic inks. Whisper White and Rose Red CS. Paint Prints and Sincere Salutations stamp set. And just a hint of glitter on one or two of the red flowers. I don't like too much glitter.

I'm off to finish some stamping I started earlier. Maybe you'll get a peek at it tomorrow if I finish it.

Where do class pets go for Christmas Vacation?

Charlotte

Where do class pets go for Christmas vacation? To the Copeland house of course!! You see, my children and husband have capitalized on the fact that I'm not particularly afraid of any animals. Creepy, crawly, slimy, furry. Nope, none of them really bother me. Chalk this up to the fact that my younger sister was always an animal lover and brought home every design of animal she could get her hands on. So, I'm kinda used to having creatures in my house. As a matter of fact, as of this typing, we have 1 dog, 1 cat, 2 guinea pigs, 3 turtles (that my daughters "rescued" from the pond) and a snake. My absolute favorite of these (besides MY dog) is the snake. It doesn't bark, it doesn't need to be walked, it doesn't make noise, it doesn't need to be groomed, it doesn't stink, you don't have to clean up after it and you only have to feed him every few weeks and he's set. So, when my youngest daughter asked to bring home the classroom pet "Charlotte" I sighed and said "fine". What's one more mouth to feed anyhow? Charlotte arrived at our house on the last day of school before the winter break. She was given the royal placement on the counter in the breakfast area and there she lived for a couple of weeks. I have to say that Miss Charlotte was quite a charming guest. She didn't bark, she didn't need to be walked, we didn't have to clean up after her, she didn't stink or make noise and she got a few store bought crickets at the beginning of the break and she was set for the holidays. While my youngest daughter was the one who wanted to bring her home and then declared that she was afraid to hold it, it was my oldest daughter that was most enchanted with her.  She would take Charlotte out of her container and hold her while she watched t.v. (my daughter watched t.v. not Charlotte) and more than once I came to the breakfast table in the morning only to find Charlotte sitting atop my daughter's head while she ate cereal. Yep, Miss Charlotte the Chilean Rose Tarantula, was a fine house guest and she can visit anytime she wants to.

Decore Elements On to stampin' stuff...I love, Love, LOVE the Decor Elements that Stampin' Up! is currently designing and selling. Each design is so playful or elegant that they can be used in any room in your house or office. I decided to place my elements in my quasi hallway beneath the stairs and between the dining room and kitchen. I used the Large Long-Stemmed Silhouette (pg. 7) with the Home is Love Level II Hostess Set (pg. 5) I really liked the way it came out but it seemed like something was missing. An embellishment of sorts. I was thinking, a giant brad, giant felt flower, piece of ribbon...you get the idea. Then, I went to a craft show and found the perfect embellishment in the form of wooden wings with glass marbles and a distressed silver crucifix design. I knew right away that it was the perfect piece so I bought it and nailed it to the wall. It was exactly what was needed.

Soon to be posted..."I don't remember dropping her on her head but, I must have." Wonderings of a 40 something mom.

What day is this???

Let's see, I looked up my own blog to see if I had posted anything new in recent days. What had I been up to? Do I have any great projects to show everyone? Any classes to get ready for? (incidentally, I also look at the obituaries every morning to see if my name and picture is in there. If it is, then I know I'm off the hook for the day's chores. If it's not, then I have to get dressed and get to work!) Well! much to my chagrin I haven't posted a single thing in let's see...112 days! Is that true? 112 days? Oh my, contrary to my last post, I am a blogger loser! But, wait! It's not that I haven't done anything at all. On the contrary my friends...I've done plenty!

Love you much 2Since September, I've managed to lose 20 lbs. Yeah! And I'm still going to the gym religiously 2-3 times a week and walking almost everyday for at least 1 hour. And, one of our neighborhood friends moved back to Sweden so I managed to complete a Texas scrapbook for her and go to her going-away parties. And I pulled off two family birthday parties, one just 2 days before Christmas! I still did my stamp clubs and most of my classes, organized a scrapbook retreat, attended a Stampin' Up! Regional Conference, participated in a card swap with a new 2009 stamp set called Love You Much and new DSP called Candy Lane. I traveled home for Thanksgiving and hosted thanksgiving with my cousin at her mom's house. And did I mention that I managed to lose 20 lbs since September? Whew! This is just part of my accomplishments. I told you I wasn't idle for the last 4 months.Love you much 1

So, what's next? I'll be getting ready for stamp clubs this week and getting new classes planned for the spring. I'm anxiously awaiting the new 2009 SU! Catalog due out this month and taking down Christmas decorations (yuck!).
